I am a registered nurse currently practicing in South Africa. I hold a Master’s degree in Gerontological Nursing. Before becoming a nurse, I spent ten years as an accountant and two years in information technology.

During my time at the University of Kwazulu Natal (2007 – 2012) as the Project manager, I have headed the design and implementation of the Active ageing at Home project, developed training manuals, and trained staff on providing clinical services . I was charged with the responsibility of helping oversee a range of critical projects from conception to delivery.

From June 2012 to July 2014 I was a research consultant for various business and medical research projects and produced research reports for the South African government and academic institutions.

Since 2014, I have been employed as a Lead Nurse for a Cruiseline in the USA, providing emergency, acute and chronic care to crew and passengers.

This book was written with inspiration from my patients and clients whom I have helped over the years to quit smoking. I struggled with nicotine addiction myself for 27 years. This book focuses on what influences smokers to smoke and not on the reasons to stop smoking. It helps smokers recognize their own set of behaviors and devise their own strategies to target each behavior. The book is easy to understand, written in simple English, and avoids using medical terminology. I call this method ‘Skillpower’ as you develop skills that give you power and control over your nicotine addiction.
